LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The men's soccer team stayed at No. 4 in the Midwest region after splitting games against Lewis and University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The Knights also collected votes for the national top 25.
The Knights fought a hard battle last Friday against the 23rd-ranked Rangers but fell short 2-1. Last Sunday BU found itself down 1-0 with five minutes to go in regulation when Ian Porta found the bottom right of the net off a rebound to tie the game at 1. Then, with 20 seconds left in the first overtime period, Francisco Cano had his shot deflected by the Lewis goalie, but Ross Hopkins collected the deflection and booted it from 25 yards away into the upper right side of the goal for the win. The split this weekend moved Bellarmine to 6-2-1 on the season.
The Knights hit the turf again tomorrow night (Oct.2) at the University of Illinois-Springfield. The game will start at approximately 7:30 ET. Bellarmine then travels to Quincy University on Sunday Illinois. The whistle will blow for the start of play at approximately 2:30 ET.
