TERRE HAUTE, Ind.--Bellarmine University's men's and women's cross country teams competed today at the "Gibson Family " meet hosted by Rose Hulman and DePauw. The Knights competed in the "university" division, finishing fourth in the women's side, and the men finished fifth.
"Overall we ran a bit better this week than last week," said Head Coach
Jim Vargo. "Today's performance was a good tune-up for conference and regionals that are coming up."
The women's team was led by
Carissa Martin who turned in a time of 23:22 over the six kilometer course to finish sixth in the university division.
Alex Jones led the men, clocking the eight kilometers in 26:16 to finish in the 11th.
Vargo said that a number of Bellarmine's top runners did not compete today in order to prepare for the upcoming Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship coming up in two weeks.
