SPRINGFIELD, Ill.--Bellarmine freshman
Robert Bowling got the game winning goal three and a half minutes into overtime to propel the Knights to a 2-1 road victory over the University of Illinois-Springfield in a Great Lakes Conference matchup.
Less than five minutes into the game, Brad Barraclough put the Knights up 1-0 with his sixth goal of the season, but that was all Bellarmine could score in regulation as Prairie Stars keeper Jeremy Carnes recorded 12 saves.
The win, which ups Bellarmine's record to 7-2-1 (5-2GLVC), was the second straight overtime victory for the Knights. On Sunday, Bellarmine prevailed in the "sudden victory" period over Lewis.
Bellarmine faces another road test on Sunday as they travel to Quincy, Ill, to face the Quincy Hawks. Game is 3:30 p.m. (ET).
