LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The Bellarmine University men's soccer team scored a 2-0 shutout over Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Missouri-St. Louis tonight at Frazier Stadium.
Knights goalkeeper
Zane Reifsteck recorded seven saves to pick up the win, and Bellarmine's
Bradley Barraclough and
Ross Hopkins provided the offense with a goal apiece.
Bellarmine improves to 10-4-1 (8-4 GLVC), while the Tritons fall to 8-6-2 (6-5-2 GLVC). The Knights stand fifth in the conference standings and are poised to claim one of the eight GLVC postseason tournament spots. In fact, the standings are so close that Bellarmine still has its sights on moving up a spot to claim one of the top four seeds and the right to host an opening round game.
Tonight, Bellarmine fought off a solid effort by Missouri-St. Louis, in which the visitors outshot Bellarmine 14-12 and held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. However, Reifsteck and Bellarmine's defense came up big to secure the shutout.
Bellarmine will host the University of Southern Indiana at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, as the Knights close out their regular season home schedule with senior day festivities.
