Slippery Rock slips by Bellarmine 3-1

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.--The Bellarmine field hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to Slippery Rock University tonight in the rain at Thompson Stadium in Slippery Rock.  

The Knights (8-9) went into halftime tied 1-1 thanks to a Cassi Dalrymple goal and eight saves by goalkeeper Katie Lange.  Slippery Rock (3-16) had taken an early lead, scoring just two and a half minutes into the game on an unassisted goal by Ariana White.

After the intermission, the hosts clamped down on defense, not allowing the Knights a shot.  The Rock, meanwhile, fired 15 shots in the second half, connecting on two to make the final score 3-1.

For the game, Bellarmine was outshot 26-6, and Slippery Rock held a 14-3 advantage in penalty corners.  Lange tied her career high with 15 saves for the Knights.

Bellarmine continues its road trip in Pennsylvania tomorrow as they face Seton Hill in Greensburg, Pa. at 4 p.m.
