LOUISVILLE, Ky. --The No. 20 Bellarmine women's soccer team placed four women on the 2009 All-Great Lakes Valley Conference teams with sophomore Abby Schuhmann named the conference Defensive Player of the Year. Schuhmann was also selected for the All-GLVC first team. Senior Amanda Moore, sophomore Lauren Triplett and junior Cristina Fugedy were all named to the All-GLVC second team.

Schuhmann and Fugedy have played on a defensive line that has allowed only eight goals on the year, currently ahead of the current school record by nine goals. The Bellarmine defense has allowed just 81 shots in 15 games, a 5.4 shot a game average, compared to 211 shots recorded by Bellarmine.  The Knights have allowed only 46 shots on goal this year while getting off 108 of their own—that averages to roughly a 7-3 advantage per game.

Moore and Triplett lead the Knights offensively, each posting 14 points to tie for the team lead during the regular season. Triplett had seven goals, four of which were game-winners. She was awarded GLVC Player of the Week honors on Oct. 12 after recording three goals for the week with two of those goals being game-winners.

Moore has played and started in all 15 games this season recording six goals and two assists for the year with four of the goals being game-winning.

Offensively, Schuhmann leads the team in assists with four and Fugedy posted a .400 shots-on-goal percentage.

The Knights finished the regular season at 12-2-1 to land them the highest national ranking for women's soccer in Bellarmine history.

The Knights open post-season play against Drury on Sunday, Nov.1 at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium in a GLVC quarterfinal game at 1 p.m.
