Knights shut out Rangers in first round of GLVC

KENOSHA, Wisc. -- The Bellarmine University men's soccer team shut out the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers 4-0 this afternoon in Kenosha, Wisconsin in a Great Lakes Valley Conference quarterfinal game.

Justin Klenke headed in a goal off a corner kick from Brett Gregory in the 11th minute to start the scoring for the Knights. In the 39th minute Jordan Dellamano punched in another goal for Bellarmine. Gregory showed his passing abilities again when he found Bradley Barraclough for the Knights third goal in the 49th minute of the game. With 1:05 left in the game Michael Whitman and Corey Fundenberger teamed together to find Robert Bowling for the Knights fourth and final goal.

Bellarmine controlled the ball all day shown by their 21-9 shot advantage and 8-3 corner kick advantage for the game.

Zane Reifsteck played the entire 90 minutes this afternoon and only was forced to save two shots behind his relentless defensive line, that only allowed nine shots for the day.

20 fouls were recorded during the game with the Knights having 13 and the Rangers committing seven.

The Knights will advance to play the winner of Drury and University of Missouri-St. Louis at the site of the highest remaining seed on Friday, Nov. 6 with a kickoff still to be determined.
