Bellarmine University announces 2009-10 women's basketball recruits

 LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Aug. 2, 2009)—Bellarmine Head Women's Basketball Coach David Smith has announced his recruiting class for 2009-10. The Knights will welcome seven freshmen and a transfer to the team for 2009-10.

The freshmen include:

Jalissa Chatlos, a 5-10 multidimensional player from North Central High School in Indianapolis. She is expected to play in the 3, 4 or 5 position. As a senior, she averaged 10 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.4 steals per game while earning All-Marion County and All-Conference honors.

Rachel Greenwell, a 5-7 guard who can play either the 1 or 2 position. She's a native of Owensboro and a graduate of Owensboro Catholic. A knee injury cost her the majority of her senior season, but as junior she averaged 14.7 points, 2.5 steals, and 2 assists a contest while shooting at a 42 percent clip from 3-point range and connecting on 82 percent of her free throws while earning 1st team All-3rd Region honors.

Allie Osen, a 6-footer from Greenwood, Ind. High School, averaged 12 points a game while hauling in eight boards a game and swatting four shots per contest, which earned her All-County, All-Conference, and All Metro South honors.

Adrienne Sahm is a 5-7 guard from Cathedral High School in Indianapolis. As a senior, she averaged 21.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. Among the recognitions she received was being named to the Indiana High School seniors honorable mention all-state squad.

Coach Smith also has announced three walk-ons will be joining the team as freshmen. They include:

Kristen Delph, a 5-8 "3" from Notre Dame Academy in northern Kentucky.
Elizabeth Goodin, a 5-5 point guard from Tates Creek High School in Lexington.
Chelsea Hoke, a 5-7 shooting guard from North Bullitt High School.

In addition to the freshmen, Bellarmine will add a transfer to its roster for 2009-10:

Melissa Fitz - (Upper Iowa University) - 5-8 guard. She averaged 8.7 points per game, 3.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 38% 3-pointers, 82% free throws as a freshman...averaged 19.4 points and shot 61 percent from three-point line as a senior at Southwest High School in Minneapolis.

Coach Smith expects to add one more transfer student from a Division I school before the beginning of the school year.
