MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--Sixty-three players from 43 different institutions earned All-America honors on the 2009 Daktronics, Inc., All-America Baseball Team with Bellarmine University starting pitcher earning honorable mention honors.
The senior right hander from Newburgh, Ind. (Castle H.S) finished the season 8-2 with a 2.84 earned run average and recorded a school record 118 strikeouts on the season. Thompson, who was third nationally in strikeouts this season, leaves Bellarmine as the career leader in strikeouts and in innings pitched.
Other post season awards garnered by Thompson include being named as Great Lakes Valley Conference and Midwest Region "Pitcher of the Year," and earned first team all conference and all region honors.
