LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 11, 2009)--Bellarmine University men's golfers Brooks Herrick and Kyle Leach have been named to the Golf Coaches Association of America's All-Midwest Region Team the GCAA announced yesterday.
It was the second postseason honor for the Bellarmine duo, who also were named to the 10-member All Great Lakes Valley Conference squad.
Herrick, a junior from Prestonsburg, Ky., had a stellar season in which he averaged 73.11 strokes while collecting two individual championships (Triton Invitational and the Parkside Invitational). He also became just the second Bellarmine golfer to qualify for the NCAA finals as an individual.
Leach, a Louisville senior, made it four consecutive years on the All-Region team. He capped his outstanding Bellarmine career by winning three times as an individual, while averaging 73.31 over 29 rounds. In 14 tournaments his senior season, Leach recorded nine top 10 finishes and was out of the top 20 only twice.
