ALLENDALE, Mich. (May 6, 2009)—Bellarmine University men's golfer Brooks Herrick fired three consistent rounds to finish even par at the NCAA Division II Midwest/Central "Super Regional," which earned him a fourth place finish and a spot in the National Championship Finals to be played May 19-22 at the Loomis Trail Golf Club in Blaine, Wash.

As a team, the Knights did not fare as well, settling for a 54-hole total of 900 to finish tied for 17th in the 20 team field.

Herrick fired rounds 72, 70 and 71 over The Meadows Golf Club's par 71 layout. On the week, the junior from Prestonsburg, Ky., avoided the "big numbers" and offset his 10 bogeys with nine birdies and an eagle to finish at 213.

With his qualification, Herrick becomes the first Bellarmine golfer since Cory Kaufman in 1998 to qualify for the national finals. Only two individuals advance from the regionals, while five teams earned a berth.

Teams earning a berth included Wayne State, Northeastern State University, Central Missouri, Ferris State, and the University of Indianapolis. Joining Herrick as an individual qualifier is Matt Ewald of Washburn University, who shot a two-over par 215.
