LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 4, 2009)--The Ohio State Buckeyes overcame an early 2-0 deficit to hand the homestanding Bellarmine Knights an 11-7 loss in a Great Western Lacrosse League game this afternoon at Bellarmine's Owsley Brown Frazier Stadium.
Senior attackman Joel Delgarno led the way for the visitors with four goals, while Bellarmine's Sean Doyle scored three times to lead the Knights.
Ohio State improves to 6-4, 2-0 GWLL, while Bellarmine falls to 6-5, 0-3 GWLL.
The Knights jumped out with a quick start, going up 2-0 less than three minutes into the game. However, the Buckeyes answered with five straight goals to take a 5-2 lead after the opening period.
Bellarmine fought back to tie it at five apiece before the Buckeyes scored to take a one-goal lead into halftime.
Bellarmine tied it at six on a Doyle goal, but Ohio State reeled off four straight goals to take a 10-6 lead early in the final period and cruised to the 11-7 victory.
Bellarmine's Bobby Snider was a bright spot for the Knights, winning 15 of 22 faceoffs.
The Knights' next action is Saturday, April 11 as Bellarmine hosts Air Force at 1 p.m.
