BU Knights compete at TSU's Boston Moon Classic

 The Bellarmine University men's and women's track teams competed at Tennessee State University's Boston Moon Classic meet this Saturday April 10th.

Bellarmine senior Jason Thornsberry took home first place in the men's steeplechase with a season best time of 9:41.98 while teammate freshman Joey Ward (pictured) finished second with a time of 9:59.40.

On the women's side senior Kristen Geiger also won the steeplechase, finishing with a time of 11:23. She improved her time from last week by 16 seconds and just missed the NCAA provisional mark of 11:20.

Senior Katie Hickey, who was fourth in last year's NCAA Division II Championship in the 3,000 meters, won that event at Tennessee State with a time of 10:01.78. She also placed second in the 1,500 meters, finishing just behind Division 1 All-American Janet Jesang from Western Kentucky. Hickey's time of 4:33.15 is an NCAA provisional mark and a slight improvement of her school record.

Other top performances turned in included those by freshman Nate Dotterweich and sophomore Joseph Kiefer. Dotterweich finished third in 1500 meters with a personal best time of 4:02.92 and doubled back in the 3,000 meters winning in a Bellarmine freshman record time of 8:47.03. Kiefer finished third in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 49.40.
