INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 5, 2009) - Bellarmine University's Taylor Kopple was voted Second Team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference for 2008-09 while teammmates Dana Beaven and Shawna Nicols were named to the All-GLVC Third Team. The awards were voted on by the league's head women's basketball coaches and announced yesterday evening.

During the regular season, Kopple, a product of Sacred Heart, led the Knights in scoring (17.0 ppg) and in rebounding (7.9 rpg). Those averages placed the senior forward at #5 in scoring and #4 in rebounding in the GLVC.

Beaven, a senior center for the Knights, led the team in blocks (40) and in steals (58), was second in rebounding (6.7 rpg), and third in scoring (10.9 ppg). Her .891 free throw percentage was #3 in the GLVC and her 40 blocks was #3 as well.

Nicols, a senior guard on the team, led Bellarmine in assists with 3.33 per game. She was also third on the team in rebounding (5.0 rpg) and fourth in scoring (10.0 ppg).

Bellarmine completed their regular season with a record of 16-11 and finished fifth in the GLVC East Division with a conference mark of 8-10. The Knights will face Northern Kentucky at noon today in the first round of the GLVC Tourney.

The GLVC head coaches have also selected Quincy's J.D. Gravina as the 2008-09 GLVC 'Chuck Mallender' Coach of the Year. The second-year coach led the Hawks to a 24-3 overall record and a first-place finish in the GLVC West Division with a 16-1 conference record.
