LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 4, 2008) -- The Bellarmine University women's tennis team, which has set several team and individual records this year, will see its season continue as the Knights have been invited to compete in the NCAA tournament.
Bellarmine will play in the Midwest Region #1 preliminary round to be held May 7 & 8 in Midland, Mich. at the Midland Community Tennis Center. The Knights (12-7) will face regional host Northwood University (17-1) at 1 p.m. on Thursday. May 7.
The winner of the Bellarmine and Northwood match will face the winner of the 3 p.m. matchup featuring Ashland (22-6) and Wayne State (17-7) with the regional champ advancing to the round of sixteen.
Head Women's Tennis Coach John Mican commented on his team's stellar year and NCAA invite, "Our making the NCAA tournament is a testament to all the hard work the team put in this year, including all the stairs and sprints that were run, all the drills and all the practice matches that were played.
