INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Apr. 23, 2009) -- Bellarmine's women's tennis player Rebecca Porter was named the GLVC Women's Tennis Freshman of the Year in a vote by the league coaches.
Porter is joined on the All-GLVC Women's Tennis Team by teammate, and Bellarmine junior, Sarah Roebker.
Porter, who is 18-4 in singles play overall, posted a 9-1 record in the conference. She recorded a 7-1 record at No. 1 and 2-0 mark at No. 2 singles against league foes. Porter also boasts a 20-7 overall record in doubles action this season and was 5-5 in the GLVC at No. 1 doubles.
Her efforts, along with those of Roebker, helped the Knights finish the league schedule with a 7-3 mark. They secured the No. 4 seed for the upcoming GLVC Tournament and are 13-5 overall.
Drury Univeristy's Chandra Capozzi was named the GLVC Women's Player of the Year.
The GLVC Coach of the Year will be named after the completion of the Championship Tournament.
