SAN ANGELO, Texas (May 23, 2009)--Bellarmine University runner Katie Hickey finished ninth today in the women's 1500 meter finals at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships at the LeGrand Sports Complex.
Hickey, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, registered a time of 4:38.18, which was just more than two seconds out of eighth, which would have earned her a spot on the All-America team.
The women's 1500 meters was won by Jessica Pixler of Seattle Pacific University, who posted a time of 4:26.75.
Hickey concludes her Bellarmine track career having made it to the national finals three times in two different events. Last year, she earned All-America honors by virtue of her fourth place finish in the 3,000 meters run--an event the NCAA eliminated this year.
