INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 13, 2009)--The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced the All-Conference teams for outdoor track today, and seven Bellarmine women's athletes made the list.
Earning recognition as First Team All-GLVC were Cristin Samuels, Katie Hickey, Kristen Geiger, Carissa Martin, and Meghan Shagena. Camila Aramburu and Kacie Gamm were named to the second team.
The Bellarmine athletes all performed well at the GLVC Outdoor championship meet. A brief recap of the honorees' performances follows:
Samuels, a junior out of Louisville's Eastern H.S., won the 5,000 meters at the GLVC Championship meet.
Hickey, a senior from Cincinnati (Ursuline Acad.), was runner-up in both the 1,500 and 3,000 meters.
Geiger, a senior from Villa Hills, Ky. (Notre Dame Acad.), ran second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
Shagena, a sophomore from Cincinnati's St. Ursula H.S., placed second in the 5,0000 meters.
Martin, a freshman from New Albany, Ind. (New Albany H.S.), was second in the 800 meters.
Aramburu, a sophomore out of Louisville Eastern, was second place in the 400 meter hurdles.
Gamm, a sophomore from Union, Ky., was the third place finisher in the 400 meter hurdles.
