DANVILLE, Ky.--The Bellarmine University women's golf team cruised to a seven-stroke victory today at the Jim English Invitational hosted by Centre College at Danville Country Club.
The Knights were led by senior Sarah DuPlessis and junior Jessica Storch, who carded 77 and 81 respectively to earn all-tournament team honors. DuPlessis, who won the individual title a year ago with a school record 69, had to settle for runner-up honors today.
In addition to the upperclassmen, Bellarmine got solid play from two freshmen playing in their first college tournament. Allison Dooley fired an 84 and Maggie Schad carded an 85 as both freshmen recorded top 10 finishes. Sophomore Jennifer Rechtin also competed well for the Knights, shooting an 87 on the day.
In the team competition, Transylvania finished second with a 334, which was just one shot in front of Kentucky Wesleyan. Centre and Hanover tied for fourth with 341s.
