LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Bellarmine University won its first women's tennis match of the year, turning back Indiana University Southeast 5-4 today at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex at Bellarmine.
Bellarmine coach
John Mican said the key to the victory waw winning the #1 and #2 doubles matches. "Sarah and
Emily Roebker fought back from being down 7-4 to win 9-7, while
Rebecca Porter and Hannah-Rose Hagan hung on to win 9-7 after being ahead 7-4," Mican said.
The match-clinching win came from freshman
Kaitlyn Reid at the #6 singles spot. ""Kaitlyn is such a great athlete but her superior conditioning is what won her the match," Mican said. "She's definitely a fighter."
Bellarmine next travels to Indianapolis to play in the highly competitive ITA Tournament scheduled to run Sept. 18-20.
