LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine Volleyball Team rode a .619 first set kill percentage and never looked back in a straight set victory over Kentucky Wesleyan College, 25-7, 25-11, 25-19 on Saturday at Knights Hall.

Freshman Paula Byrns tied a game high with seven kills, while also contributing two solo blocks and one assisted block.  Fellow rookie Alyson Harmeling had five kills and a team high three solo blocks in a match where Bellarmine outnumbered the Panthers 8.0-2.0 in the category.

The Knights were also led in kills by junior Emily Beckman with seven.  Beckman contributed six defensive digs as well, ending up in a tie for the team lead with freshman Kaitlin Young.

Errors plagued Kentucky Wesleyan throughout the contest, as the Panthers finished with 21 total attack errors, compared to just 16 kills off 73 attacks.  Bellarmine, in turn, scored 37 kills with just nine errors on 71 attacks.

Setter Caryn Schoeff assisted on 24 kills, while freshman Lauryn Hyman came in the third set to add five of her own.  Wesleyan (0-10, 0-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference) was led by freshman Sarah Pedigo's 10 assists.

Six different Bellarmine players recorded at least one service ace, led by Beckman, sophomore Austin Ziegler, and junior libero Kaitlan Harris, who each had a pair.

Sophomore Lauren Gosnell had a season high six kills off nine attack opportunities, with no errors.  Her .667 kill percentage led all players with multiple attack opportunities.

Bellarmine (4-3, 1-1 GLVC) returns to the court next Saturday with a home match against GLVC newcomers Maryville University.  First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Knights Hall.
