LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The men's cross country team jumped to sixth in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings. The team had a magnificent showing at the National Catholic Invitational last weekend which helped catapult them to the No. 6 position.

The Knights were led by Jordan Parayil who finished in first place in the eight kilometers among non-D-1 competitors with a time of 26:06.1.  Then just three-tenths of a second behind him was Justin Smith who finished second overall in the eight kilometer. Bellarmine's Alex Jones, Guy Vandermosten and Neal Masterson also turned in top 20 performances, finishing 11th, 13th and 16th respectively.

“The performance by our men is probably our best men's race in 25 years,” Vargo stated that night.

The Cross Country team will be running the terrain again this Saturday (Sept. 26) in Evansville, Ind. for the NCAA Div. II  Pre Nationals. The running will begin at 10 a.m.
