Volleyball Knights roll Maryville, 3-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine University Volleyball Team managed to erase a 12-3 third set deficit to earn a three-set victory over Maryville University, 25-12, 25-20, 30-28 on Saturday afternoon at Knights Hall.

 

Bellarmine still trailed 20-13 later in the third set before rattling off six consecutive points, bringing the margin to one.  The Knights managed to tie the set at 23 off a Lucy Knott kill off a free ball sent by the Saints. 

 

Bellarmine faced set point at 28-27 after an attack error by Maureen Loftus, but rallied behind a pair of Emily Beckman kills and a final attack error by Saints' outside hitter Kylee Eudy.

 

Beckman led all players with 16 kills off 41 total attacks.  She also contributed 10 defensive digs and one service ace.

 

Setter Caryn Schoeff recorded 39 assists and had kills on five of her 10 attacks.  Kaitlan Harris led all players with 17 digs, while adding a service ace.

 

The Saints (1-10, 0-4 GLVC) were led by Kari Blankenship's five kills.  Setter Andi Neff contributed 15 assists, while Kayla Huesgen had 15 digs.

 

Bellarmine (5-3, 2-1 GLVC) will be back in action on Friday with an away match at Drury University.  Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m.
