WATERLOO, Ill.--Bellarmine senior
Sarah DuPlessis captured the individual title at the Midwest Shootout golf tournament contested at Annbriar Golf Club in Waterloo, Ill., yesterday and today. The Elizabethtown native fired rounds of 70 and 74 in the 36 hole event to finish at even par 144, three shots clear of runner-up Clara Vila of the host school, the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
In the team competition, the Knights shot 643 to finish sixth in the 10-team field, which was won by the University of Indianapolis. The Greyhounds' total of 606 was 16 shots in front of runner-up Drury.
Bellarmine Head Coach
Art Henry continued to get solid play from a pair of freshmen, as
Maggie Schad and
Allison Dooley turned in scores of 162 and 165 respectively.
The two-under par 70 carded by DuPlessis was just one shot off her own school record as she and Vila separated themselves a bit from the field as the only players to break par in either round.
Next up for the women linksters is the Centre Invitational, which will be played Oct. 3 at Old Bridge Golf Course.
