9/27/2009 5:34:51 PM

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Jacqueline LaFont's last-minute first half goal was all the scoring the Bellarmine Women's Soccer Team needed in a 1-0 shutout of Lewis University at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

LaFont's first goal of the season was a header from Adrianna Long's cross 12 yards out from goal.  The ball sailed into the left side of the net with only 26 seconds before the halftime break.  The assist was Long's first of the 2009 campaign.

The Knights tallied a total of 13 shots for the day, compared to Lewis' five.  Nine of Bellarmine's shots were on target for the match.

Amanda Moore failed to connect on her two shots on goal, but finished with a game high four shots.  Lauren Triplett and Ashley Repholz were the only other Bellarmine players with multiple shots.

Keeper Amy Kunowski recorded four saves in earning her fifth shutout of the season.  Her season-to-date goals against average improved to 0.13.

Lewis (2-6-2, 1-5-1) was led by Allison Schieffer's three shots (two on target), but the Flyers were only able to shoot the ball once in the second half.

Bellarmine dominated possession throughout the game, evidenced by their ten corner kick opportunities, compared to Lewis' two.

The Knights (7-1-0, 5-1-0 GLVC) hit the road this week for games against the University of Illinois-Springfield on Friday and Quincy University on Sunday.  Friday's game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Springfield.
