10/10/2010 3:32:33 PM

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Allyson Palmer's second goal of the season was all the scoring the Bellarmine University women's soccer team needed in a 1-0 victory over Rockhurst University at Bourke Athletic Field.

Palmer connected on the goal in the 38th minute immediately after her original shot, saved by a Rockhurst defender, bounced back to the reserve sophomore inside the six-yard box.

Amy Kunowski recorded her fifth shutout of the 2010 campaign, saving all seven shots on goal by the Hawks.  Abby Schuhmann and Cristina Fugedy played the full 90 minutes in the contest on the defensive side to help preserve the lead.

Allison Menchak led the Knights (7-4-1, 6-3-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference) in shots with four (one on goal), while Palmer's three shots on target topped all players.  As a team, the Knights finished the match with a 21-11 shot advantage.

Bellarmine committed 17 fouls in the aggressive match, compared to 11 for Rockhurst (7-5-1, 5-4-1 GLVC).

The Knights return home on Friday for the start of a weekend conference homestand, beginning with Maryville University.  Kickoff is scheduled for 3:55 p.m. at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.
