Women’s soccer sends seniors out in style

LOUISVILLE , Ky. – The Bellarmine University women's soccer team defeated the Missouri University of Science and Technology 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.

 

The contest was the final home match for seniors Caitlin Duffy, Courtney Estep, Cristina Fugedy, Kacie Gamm, Jacqueline LaFont, Jillian Redlinger, Alissa Reuther, Brittany Rogers, and Stephanie Wilson.

 

Reyna Naranjo opened the scoring in the 44th minute, dribbling along the end line and firing a shot past Miners' keeper Kelsey Kurilla.  The goal was Naranjo's third of the season.

Reuther added an insurance goal after the break when in the 64th minute, she took a pass from Allyson Palmer 15 yards from the goal on the right side and placed it home for her fifth score of the year.

 

Palmer finished the scoring on the day with a goal of her own in the 66th minute, as her shot from just inside the penalty box ricocheted off a Missouri S&T defender and into the net.

 

Rogers faced a pair of shots in the full 90 minutes and earned her second shutout of the season, the eighth of her Bellarmine career.

 

The Knights (9-4-1, 8-3-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference) begin the final weekend of regular season play on Friday with a match at the University of Southern Indiana.  Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. in Evansville.
