LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine University volleyball team ended their weekend homestand with a second consecutive loss in a 3-1 match against the Drury University Panthers on Saturday at Knights Hall.
Krista Gibson led all players with 14 kills to go with her 2.0 blocks. No other Knight tallied double-digit kills.
Bellarmine started the match slow, dropping the first 10 points in a 25-14 Set 1 defeat. However, the home team rallied in the second set thanks to 16 kills and a .379 attack percentage.
Drury stormed back after intermission with a gutsy 25-20 third set, and finished off the Knights by the same score in the fourth set.
Kaitlin Young took over libero duties in the second set and finished with a game high 16 defensive digs, while Whitney Tormoehlen paced the squad with 10 of her own.
Bailey BredenbeckCorp accumulated 25 assists, and Lauryn Hyman delivered 11 after relieving the freshman in Set 4.
The Knights return to action on Friday with leg one of a weekend road trip at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. First serve is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Kenosha.
