LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine University volleyball team blocked a season high 13 attacks in defeating St. Joseph's College in five sets on Friday night at Knights Hall.

The block total was the most by Bellarmine since the Knights recorded 18 in a five set loss to Drury University on Oct. 2, 2009.

"Our blocking was the highlight of the match tonight," Bellarmine Head Coach Dan Palmer said.  "We have been improving on that recently, and the results will hopefully continue."

Allyson Harmeling led the block party with two solo and three assisted stoppages.  Emily Beckman recorded two of each, while Paula Byrns tallied three assisted blocks.

Beckman led the offensive surge with a game high 18 kills.  Her 19 defensive digs led all players, while fellow attacker Whitney Tormoehlen contributed 17 digs to go with her six kills.

Bailey BredenbeckCorp delivered 49 assists.  She, Beckman, and Lucy Knott each had one service ace in the match.

Bellarmine returns to the Knights Hall court on Saturday afternoon for a 3 p.m. match against the University of Indianapolis.
