LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The Bellarmine University volleyball team won their sixth match in eight days by knocking off the 19th-ranked Indianapolis Greyhounds in five sets (20-25, 25-23-25-20, 19-25, 15-11)this afternoon in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Knights Hall.

"This was a very hard-played match," said Bellarmine Coach Dan Palmer.  "UIndy came at us with their "A" game in those last couple of sets, and we handled it. I think we're really coming together as a team."

The match was an exclamation point on a perfect eight day stretch that has seen the Knights go 3-0 in the GLIAC-GLVC Crossover tournament, then knock off conference foes Northern Kentucky, St. Joseph's and Indianapolis.

"We just beat three very, very good teams," Palmer said. "It's nice to get back to Knights Hall and get to play in front of the home fans."

Bellarmine, which improved to 14-8 (6-4 GLVC), again were led offensively by outside hitters Krista Gibson and Emily Beckman, who recorded 20 and 19 kills respectively.  The Knights also got another solid performance from freshman setter Bailey BredenbeckCorp, who totaled 51 assists in the match.

Indianapolis (18-7, 7-3 GLVC) got another big effort from Kristina Kerrigan, who had 28 kills in a losing effort.

The Knights are back on the road for matches at Quincy on Friday night and Illinois-Springfield on Saturday afternoon.
