ST. LOUIS--The Bellarmine University women's soccer team blanked the host University of Missouri-St. Louis 3-0 in both teams' regular season finales this afternoon in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest.
The win nailed down the No. 5 seed for the Knights in the upcoming GLVC tournament, which means Bellarmine will travel to Evansville to face the University of Southern Indiana in an opening round game on Sunday, Oct. 31. The Knights and Screaming Eagles battled to a 1-1 tie two days ago.
In today's match,
Alissa Reuther scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season to stake the Knights to a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute. Just before the first half ended,
Chelsea McCarty socred her first career goal to put Bellarmine up 2-0 going into the intermission.
Just 1:05 into the second period,
Reyna Naranjo gave the Knights their final score of the game when she converted off a corner kick by
Stephanie Wilson.
Bellarmine's
Amy Kunowski and
Brittany Rogers shared time between the posts in helping the Knights record the team's eighth shutout of the season.
Bellarmine improves to 10-4-2, 9-3-2 GLVC, while the Tritons fall to 7-7-2, 5-7-2 GLVC.
