LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine University women's soccer team picked up a 3-1 victory over the University of Illinois-Springfield on Sunday in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
The Knights got goals from
Lauren Triplett (Belleville, Ill., Belleville East),
Alissa Reuther (Villa Hills, Ky., Notre Dame Academy), and
Lauren Boyd (LaGrange, Ky., Oldham County) to improve to 5-4-1 on the season.
Triplett got the scoring started when she lifted a shot over UIS goalkeeper Kelli Kubal for her first goal of the season.
Reuther, Bellarmine's leading scorer on the season, scored her fourth goal of the season in the 57th minute when she picked up a deflection and put it into the back of the net.
Boyd got her first career goal as a Knight when
Courtney Estep (Indianapolis, Ind., Lawrence North) dropped the ball off and Boyd fired it past Kubal from the top of the box.
The Knights had 22 shots and 10 corner kicks in the game where 26 players saw action. Bellarmine also had a suffocating defense that allowed the Prairie Star only one shot on goal and one corner kick.
Bellarmine will return to action on Friday as they travel to Drury University, game time is set for 6 p.m.
