INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--Bellarmine University's Destiny Mattingly hit a fall away jumper in the lane with just 1.3 seconds remaining to send the Knights past the No. 2 Indianapolis Greyhounds 66-64 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest in Nicoson Hall.

Bellarmine Coach David Smith said, "I don't know how (Mattingly) made that shot, the girl was all over her.  She's probably the only player on our team who could have made that shot."

Smith said he had called for a play to try to get the ball to Brittany Edelen, but told his team that if they couldn't get into the play to spread the floor and look for the drive.

The win capped an outstanding second half comeback after the Knights had fallen behind 37-23 at the break. The Knights were able to cut into the lead by hitting 3-pointers and doing a much better job on the glass.  After surrendering 14 first half offensive rebounds, Bellarmine allowed just four in the second half. Meanwhile Allison Matheis heated up from beyond the arc, making four treys in the second half.

The second half opened with Bellarmine going on a 10-0 run as Matheis hit back to back threes and Jalissa Chatlos converted back to back layups.

After the Knights tied the score 40-40 at the 13:57 mark, the game went back and forth up to the final horn, as the teams battled to 10 second half ties and seven lead changes.

"In the first half," Smith said, "they (Indianapolis) came out in a zone, and we didn't handle it," pointing out that the Greyhounds scored 20 first half points off turnovers."We did a much better job in the second half.  I think we scored every time they played zone in the second."

Four Bellarmine Knights scored in double figures with Chatlos leading the way with 15.  Kylie Brady added 14, and Brittany Edelen and Matheis had 12 each.  Edelen also led the Knights with nine rebounds and swatted six UIndy shots to increase her league-leading blocked shots total.

Bellarmine improves to 15-10 (8-8 GLVC) while the Greyhounds lose their second in a row to move to 24-2 (15-2).

The Knights finish their regular season with home contests on Thursday against Kentucky Wesleyan and on Saturday against Southern Indiana.
