ROLLA, Mo.—The Bellarmine University softball team ended the first leg of their weekend road trip with a pair of losses to Missouri S&T, 3-1 and 6-5, at the S&T Softball Field on Saturday afternoon.

Game Two saw Bellarmine score the game's first five runs, highlighted by a two-run homerun in the first inning by shortstop Megan Murdoch, the first of her career.  The Knights tacked on three more runs in the second, as second baseman Angel Zimmerman drove in a run on an RBI single to centerfield.

The Knights had runners on first and second with one out in the top of the seventh inning, but the next two batters proceeded to strikeout looking to end the game.   Ashley Wallingford threw three innings of relief for the Lady Miners, striking out seven Knights.

Bellarmine starter Casey Willard went the distance in the losing effort, allowing only two earned runs, and striking out six Missouri S&T batters.

In Game One, the Knights were shutout through six innings before pinch hitter Kaitlyn Morley's no-out RBI single to centerfield in the seventh, scoring Paige Willis.  However, the Knights failed to capitalize on another opportunity, as starter Ashley Wallingford retired the next three batters in order to earn the complete game victory.

Murdoch had three hits in the game for Bellarmine, while Amanda Meyer allowed five hits in six innings, striking out five batters.

The Knights continue the road trip on Sunday with a doubleheader at Maryville University.  First pitch is scheduled for noon in Saint Louis.
