LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine women's tennis team defeated the University of Illinois Springfield 7-2 on Saturday at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex on the Bellarmine campus.

“It was another hard-fought win against a quality GLVC opponent,” said Bellarmine Coach John Mican.

The Knights were down in all three doubles matches but found ways to come back and win.  The number three doubles went into a tie-breaker as Keyly Knechtel and Abigail Day fought off a match point before securing the win.

“Winning the three doubles points really took the pressure off in singles,” said Mican.

Rebecca Porter had a close match at the number one spot until she found her rhythm and won nine of the last 10 games.

The Roebker sisters continued their solid play.  Sarah and Emily each got to match point at the exact same time, then Sarah closed out her match on the two court about two seconds before Emily won her match on the three court.

The Knights swing back into action on Tuesday, Mar. 23 at Asbury University.
