LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine University baseball team gave up 12 walks and No. 24 Southern Indiana did just enough hitting to outscore the Knights 7-3 in a non-conference contest at Knights Field this afternoon.

After the Screaming Eagles plated two run in the top of the second on just one hit, the Knights came back to tie it in the bottom half of the inning as freshman catcher Sam Burke drove in two with a double to the gap in right center.

Bellarmine took the lead in the bottom of the third when center fielder Braxton Graven homered to right.

The Knights held the lead until the fifth, when five walks in the inning led to two USI runs giving the visitors a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Southern Indiana lefty Scott Handley relieved starting pitcher Jared Canterbury in the bottom of the fifth with one aboard and no outs and shut down the Knights the rest of the way. Handley allowed no hits and only two base runners the remainder of the game—Bellarmine's Nick Riganti was hit by a pitch and Patrick Brady reached on an error.

The Screaming Eagles (12-7) added three more runs in the top of the seventh to make the final score 7-3.

Bellarmine, which fell to 9-12, entertains Northern Kentucky in a doubleheader on Friday, which represents a schedule change. The doubleheader was originally scheduled for Sunday.
