LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The Bellarmine University women's tennis team pulled out a narrow 5-4 victory over the University of Southern Indiana today at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex in the Knights' Great Lakes Valley Conference opener.
The tight match went down to the wire and wasn't decided until
Emily Roebker pulled out a three-set victory in the No. 3 singles match.
"Anytime we play Southern Indiana we know we are in for a long battle," said Bellarmine Head Coach John Mican. "Emily Roebker closed out the match by winning her eighth match in a row on the three court in three sets.
"It was a great day's work and winning this match was sweet revenge after losing to USI two months earlier in Evansville," Mican added.
Bellarmine moves to 9-2 on the season and are 1-0 in conference play. The Knights get little chance to savor the victory, however, as GLVC foe Missouri-St. Louis visits on Monday afternoon for another conference dual match.
