CARROLLTON, Ga.—The Bellarmine baseball team had a comfortable three-run seventh inning lead, and held on late to win at the University of West Georgia, 6-5 on Sunday afternoon at Cole Field.
Designated hitter David Weinstein led the charge with three runs batted in off 2-for-4 hitting and a run scored. Left fielder Braxton Graven went 3-for-4with a pair of runs and an RBI.
Philip Forbis was credited with the win, allowing three hits in 1.1 innings of relief work. Starter Matt Bayes allowed three earned runs in 3.2 innings, while walking a pair.
The Knights continue their road trip, and open up the Great Lakes Valley Conference season, with a midweek game at the University of Southern Indiana. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday night.
