ROMEOVILLE, Ill.--The Bellarmine University women's tennis team got a 6-3 road victory over Lewis University in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match this afternoon. The win improved the Knights to 12-4, 3-2 GLVC and clinched a berth in the upcoming conference championship. The Flyers fall to 8-7, 2-3.
The Knights took a 2-1 lead after the doubles competition, thanks in large part to a narrow 9-8 victory by
Sarah Roebker and
Hannah-Rose Hagan at the No. 2 doubles.
Moving into singles, Bellarmine got stern tests as four of the six matches went three sets. Securing points for the Knights were
Rebecca Porter at No. 1,
Sarah Roebker at No. 2 and
Abby Day came from behind to win 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5.
Bellarmine concludes its regular season with road matches tomorrow at Indianapolis and Monday at Maryville.
