Wiedmar, Graven power Knights past Kentucky Wesleyan

OWENSBORO, Ky.—The Bellarmine University baseball team got clutch performances from Chris Wiedmar and Braxton Graven as the Knights scored an important 10-3 conference victory over Kentucky Wesleyan this afternoon.  The game was a make-up for a contest rained out in March.
 
Wiedmar provided the game-winning RBI with his two-run double in the fifth inning, and Graven helped blow the game open with a grand slam in the top of the of sixth as Bellarmine cruised to the 7-run victory.
 
Bellarmine used four pitchers in the game with Aaron Deatherage getting the start and Matt Bayes picking up his seventh win in just two losses. Samuel Robinson and Cory Thomas each pitched two innings to close the game.
 
With the win, Bellarmine improves to 26-21 overall and 13-10 in the GLVC, which moves them up to third place in the GLVC East. The Panthers fall to 19-23, 11-13.
 
Bellarmine is back in action on Saturday and Sunday with a 4-game series against Lewis. Doubleheaders are scheduled to start at noon both days.
