LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The No. 23 Bellarmine Knights and the No. 7 Northern Kentucky Norse locked horns tonight in a hard-fought 1-1 tie in Great Lakes Valley Conference men's soccer action tonight at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.

After battling through a scoreless first half, reigning NCAA Division II Player of the Year Steven Beattie put the Norse on the board as he got behind the Bellarmine defense to register the game's first goal 67:57 into the contest.

Less than five minutes later, the Knights answered as Brett Gregory delivered a corner kick to reigning GLVC Player of the Week Bradley Barraclough, who headed the ball into the right side of the goal for the tie.

As the game went into overtime, both teams had opportunities for dramatic wins.  As time wound down in the first overtime Barraclough delivered a shot that required a save from NKU keeper Michael Lavric--his 11th save of the night. Then, as time was clicking down a Bellarmine foul--their 20th of the game--gave NKU one final chance, but the shot was wide left.

Bellarmine got off 19 shots on the game, 12 of which were on goal, while the Norse fired up 13 shots with six of them on target.

With the tie, Bellarmine and Northern Kentucky sport identical 2-0-1 (1-0-1 GLVC) records.

The Knights are back in action Sunday, as they step out of conference play to host Urbana University at 2:30 p.m.
