LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Freshman Lucy Heidrich had a career high 14 kills as the Bellarmine University volleyball team defeated Oakland City University 25-13, 25-12, 25-21 on Wednesday night at Knights Hall.
Emily Beckman added 11 kills off a .625 attack percentage to complement her three service aces, pacing the Bellarmine offensive attack.
The Knights (4-4) converted on 69 percent of sideout opportunities in each of the first two sets, holding the Lady Oaks to a total of six and three kills, respectively, in the frames. For the match, Oakland City (3-3) converted on 16 of their 64 attacks, which combined with the 16 errors, produced a .000 attack percentage.
After scoring the first five points of the second set, Bellarmine never looked back, leading by as many as 15 points to capture the set 25-12. Heidrich added five kills in the third set, including the final two points to give the Knights a sweep.
Bailey BredenbeckCorp delivered 31 assists, while Kaitlan Harris' 11 defensive digs led all players. Paula Byrns led the squad in blocks with two solo and one assisted.
Bellarmine opens Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Friday night with a road trip to Kentucky Wesleyan College. First serve is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Owensboro.
