Volleyball opens GLVC play with 3-0 win over KWC

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Bellarmine University volleyball team utilized a balanced attack and consistent defense in a 25-18, 25-15, 25-18 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan College to open the Great Lakes Valley Conference season on Friday night at Jones Gymnasium.

 

Emily Beckman scored 11 points on the evening with five service aces and six kills to lead the Knights (5-4, 1-0 GLVC) in the three set sweep over the Panthers (3-3, 0-1 GLVC).  Her 11 defensive digs marked the fourth time this she has reached double digits in the category this season.

 

Alyson Harmeling recorded a match high eight kills and four defensive digs, while Kaitlin Young provided 10 digs of her own.

 

Bailey BredenbeckCorp and Lauryn Hyman split the setting duties for Bellarmine on the evening.  BredenbeckCorp led all players with 18 assists, and Hyman contributed 12.

 

The Knights continue their weekend road trip on Saturday for a match against the University of Southern Indiana.  First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. EDT in Evansville.
