FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Bellarmine University volleyball team needed five sets to overcome a resilient Kentucky State University team and win their fifth consecutive match in a nonconference tilt on Tuesday night at Bell Gymnasium.

While Krista Gibson led all Bellarmine players with 16 kills and four service aces for the match, Alyson Harmeling finished with 15 kills and a .542 attack percentage to go with her two solo and one assisted blocks.  Emily Beckman added 15 kills and 12 defensive digs.

Bailey BredenbeckCorp established a new career high in assists with 53 for the match, with just one ball handling error.

Bellarmine (8-4) bounced back from one set deficits in the second and fourth sets thanks to a persistent attack game.  Kentucky State's defense held strong throughout the match, but Bellarmine's 169 total attacks were too much for the Thorobrettes (12-6).

Kaitlan Harris led the squad in digs with 13, while Lucy Heidrich recorded 11 kills.

The Knights open the conference portion of their 2010 home schedule this weekend with a “White Out” promotion.  Fans are encouraged to wear white for the volleyball team's matches against Rockhurst University at 7 p.m. on Friday and Drury University at 3 p.m. on Saturday.  Both matches will take place at Knights Hall.
