LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The Bellarmine University men's soccer team scored a pair of early goals then cruised to a 4-0 victory over the visiting Maryville Saints tonight in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest at Owsley Brown Frazier Stadium.

Bellarmine freshman Dan Schiavi, who was the offensive leader with two goals and an assist, got the scoring started just 5:29 into the game, heading a shot off the crossbar and past Saints goalie Michael Flately.

Just a minute and half later, Maryville gave the Knights a 2-0 lead with an own goal.  The score remained 2-0 until halftime as Flately put up three first half saves to keep the Knights scoreless the rest of the way.  Meanwhile, Bellarmine's defense did not allow a shot on goal in the first period as Knights keeper Blake Hunter played the first half without having to make a save.

In the second period, Connor Brehm and Schiavi added goals in the 63rd and 67th minute respectively to ice the game for the Knights.

For the game Bellarmine outshot the Saints 12-9, but Maryville only got one shot off on target . Cody Russell made the save for the Knights in the second half as he came in to relieve Hunter.

With the win, Bellarmine improves to 9-6 overall and 8-5 in the GLVC.  The Saints fall to 4-11-1 (3-10 GLVC).

The Knights are back in action at home on Sunday as Bellarmine hosts Missouri-St. Louis at 2:30 p.m.  Prior to the game, Bellarmine will honor its six senior team members.
