No. 23 Knights win 2-0 on Senior Day

LOUISVILLE, Ky. ---On Senior Day, the No. 23Bellarmine University women's soccer team earned a 2-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over the visiting Tritons of Missouri-St. Louis at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.

After the game, Bellarmine(13-2-1, 12-2 GLVC) honored five members their senior class as Danielle Kamenec, Adrianna Long, Abby Schuhmann, Melanie Stippler, and Lauren Triplett were sent out in style with a win.

Tiplett made the most of her memory in the 17th minute when she corralled a rebound off a Chelsea McCarty shot that UMSL keeper Kaitlyn Smugala could not hold onto and sent it into the back of the net for her third goal of the season, and 14th of her career .

Not satisfied with the one goal advantage, the Knights kept firing on Smugala, taking a 10-4 shot advantage into halftime.

Bellarmine scored their second goal off a set piece in the 83rd minute when sophomore Christina Kapsalis headed home a cross off the foot off the foot of Triplett.

Defensively, was in lockdown mode, giving up only six shots, two on goal. Keeper Amy Kunowski made two saves in the winning effort to lower her season goals against average to 0.54.

Bellarmine wraps on the regular season with a showdown against No. 9 Northern Kentucky on Wednesday at Frazier Stadium at 3:55 PM. The Norse hold a one game lead over Bellarmine in the conference standings, but a victory by the Knights would give them the conference championship by way of the tie breaker.
