RENSSELAER, Ind. ---Losing the lead late in the match, the Bellarmine University men's soccer team came back and picked up a key Great Lakes Valley Conference win on Sunday afternoon, knocking off the Pumas of St. Joseph's College 2-1 in double-overtime.

John Cantrell helped Bellarmine (6-6, 5-5 GLVC) jump out to the early lead, ripping a shot into the upper right corner of the goal just five minutes into the contest for his second goal of the season. But with the clock beginning to tick down, St. Joseph's(4-5-2,2-3 GLVC) Jeff Grider evened the game at 1-1 in the 80th minute, scoring off a cross from Tyler Cook.

The first overtime was a defensive stalemate as St. Joseph's recorded the only shot of the period, one that was wide of the goal.

In the 109th minute, Jordan Beckles found himself in the right place at the right time, picking up a rebound that Puma keeper Steve Quella could not collect and hammered it home for the game winner. It marks the second double-overtime victory for the Knights this season, previously beating Southern Indiana 2-1 in 2OT on Sept. 9.

Freshman goalkeeper Blake Hunter made a career high seven saves on the day to earn his sixth win of the season while his counterpart, Quella, had six saves in a losing effort.

Bellarmine returns to GLVC action next week when they hit the road again, taking on Illinois-Springfield at 8:30 PM EST.
