LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Third baseman Zachary Blanchard went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs and an RBI as the Bellarmine University baseball team won the weekend's rubber match with Ohio Dominican University, 5-3, on Sunday afternoon at Knights Field.

Blanchard put the Knights on the board when, after being walked to lead off the second inning, he scored off a Cory Johnson double to left-center field, leveling the game at one.

Following a go-ahead David Weinstein RBI single scoring John Lyons in the third frame, Blanchard drove in Weinstein from second with a double.  A two-RBI double by Kalvin Scheler in the fifth inning completed the Bellarmine scoring.

Weinstein finished the day 2-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout, while Scheler went 2-for-4 as the only Knights with multiple hits on the day.

Starting pitcher Benjamin Fuchs struck out five Panthers in 4.0 innings of work, allowing one earned run.  Cory Thomas gave up three hits and struck out two in 4.0 innings, taking his first win of the season.  Kristopher Sipes pitched the ninth inning and walked one batter to earn the save.

The Knights (2-1) hit the road next weekend for a weekend trip to Henderson State University.  First pitch of the Saturday doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Arkadelphia, Ark.
