LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine Knights completed a sweep of the Maryville Saints on Sunday afternoon, with a 7-6 victory at Knights Field.
The Saints seized an early 2-0 lead in the first, but the Knights came back to answer with two runs of their own in the bottom of the third. In the fifth, both teams again scored a run, to bring the score to 3-3.
After getting behind by two more runs in the sixth, the Knights picked up two runs of their own to once again tie the game in the seventh. A two-run home run by senior outfielder
Braxton Graven in the eighth boosted Bellarmine to a 7-5 lead. The homer was the second for Graven this season.
Maryville took advantage of two errors committed by the Knights in the top of the ninth, but were only able to squeeze out one run.

Cory Johnson had three hits, as well as senior designated hitter
David Weinstein. The Knights knocked out fourteen hits in the win, compared to nine by the Saints.

Benjamin Fuchs received a no-decision in the win. He went five innings, giving up three runs off five hits and striking out one. Reliever
Aaron Deatherage earned his first win of the season, as he threw the final 2.2 innings, giving up one run off two hits and striking out three.
Maryville starting pitcher Brent Grempler also received a no-decision for his 4.1 innings of work. He gave up three runs off six hits, and sturck out five. Reliever Pat Jacobs was charged with his first loss of the season, as he gave up four runs off eight hits.
With the win, the Knights advanced their record to 5-6. The Saints fell to 4-5.
The Knights will be back in action on Tuesday as they face Oakland City University. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at Knights Field.
