LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The Bellarmine University softball team stretched their win streak to five games on Sunday as they swept the visiting Missouri S&T Miners, 3-2, 10-2 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

GAME 1
The visiting Miners(5-17, 4-2 GLVC) drew first as they scored a run in the top of the first on a RBI double to center field by Kay Smith. They would later stretch their lead to 2-0 in the sixth inning on a single to right field by Kristin Drage.

The Knights (17-9, 6-2 GLVC) had plenty of chances to take control of the game as twice they had the bases loaded, but could not produce any runs. For the game Bellarmine left 12 bases runners stranded.

But the home team was within striking distance the entire game due mostly to Casey Willard's brilliant pitching performance. The senior from Louisville went the full 7.0 innings will striking out eight batters, including four looking.

Bellarmine made their move in the sixth inning as Caley Melton singled to center field to bring home Madi Ratliff, just before the tag. After Erin Sireno got another single to load the bases, Lauren Summe picked up the RBI after being hit by a pitch to tie the game at two.

Willard kept the momentum going by retiring the side in the top of the seventh to give the Knights a chance for the walk off victory. This time Bellarmine took full advantage of the given chance as Ratliff found the gap in left center to score Willard from second for the walk off victory.

The walk off hit capped a perfect 4-4 day for Ratlif after a 0-3 day on Saturday against Maryville.

With the win, Willard improved to 10-3 on the season as S&T's Taylor Keal was tagged with the loss.

GAME 2
The Knights did not make the same mistakes in game two as they jumped on the Miners in the first inning for three runs. Summe and Megan Murdoch started the scoring off as they took advantage of a wild throw by S&T's Jennifer Sardigal. Then Stephanie Albertson capped off the inning with a RBI single to stretch the lead to 3-0 after one.

Bellarmine showed off their skills in the field on Sunday as well. With a runner on first and one out, Coach Rene Hicks got defensive effort worthy of a Sportscenter 's Top 10 Plays as Murdoch knocked down a hot grounder up the middle, flipping it to Angel Zimmerman at second, who turned the double play at first for the ending inning out.

Summe would tag on another run in the third as she hit a towering shot over the left field fence for her seventh homer of the season. S&T would manage to get two runs back in the fourth as first basemen Kassi Deibert hit a two run homer of her own off Amanda Meyer.

Bellarmine would make the Miners pay for another error in the bottom of the inning as Murdoch would connect on a three run shot to take a 8-2 lead. Sireno and Summe would both bring in runs in the fifth inning to force the shortened game, a 10-2 victory for the Knights.

Meyer (6-5) picked up the win sprinkling five hits over five innings of work, giving up two runs and striking out one.

In the finale Summe and Murdoch combined to go 5-6 from the plate with four runs, five RBI's and two home runs.
